Watch This Mixed Media Layout

Ever play along with scrapbooking or cardmaking challenges? I haven’t done so in a long time, but lately I’ve been really inspired by them. I’ve played along with several different challenges over the last couple weeks and I’m really enjoying it.

The latest challenge I participated in is scraplift Sunday with Paper Issues. There’s a new layout to scraplift every week; inspiration is easy to come by in the Paper Issues Friends & Fans group on Facebook. Here’s the inspiration layout:

The last couple pictures are of the layout I created from the inspiration piece, and close ups. I wanted to get super messy since mud bogs are naturally messy. I chose not to use brown inks to create my mixed media background because I didn’t want it to look muddy. I chose green and grey instead. The grey has a lot of brown tones to it, so it still pulled in the muddy and dirty nature of my theme. Using Charcoal ink from CTMH, I stamped a tag around the mixed media portion, then splattered black re-inker around the page. Once it was dry, I layered distressed patterned papers under my photo and attached it with foam squares so I could tuck some grey sewing thread underneath it.

I added a bit more mixed media at the bottom of the layout, including a torn edge at the very bottom with some patterned paper and mink cardstock strips poking out from underneath.

I added a few other die cuts from my stash to complete this layout, and I’m so happy with the finished product. Now that I’m looking at it after it’s finished, I should’ve added a third spot of mixed media to complete the visual triangle. But, I didn’t. I like it as it is, so I’m not going to change it ☺️

Thanks for joining me today! I hope to see you again soon!
