I took a break from playing with Heart Happy to create a double page layout using some retired papers and a totally new- to- me product. This particular product will be featured in a FB live sometime soon, so stay tuned! (If you’re not already a member there, visit my techniques group on Facebook here.)
Here’s a peek of the new product I used:
More on that later. 😊
Here’s the rest of the story:
I cut Fresh Air and Documented patterned papers into strips, then arranged them horizontally on my Almond base. (I only used side B of Documented, because side A didn’t coordinate very well!)
I ventured way out of my comfort zone, and created two embellishment clusters with brads.
Remember those?! When was the last time you used one? Think hard! I don’t remember when I used them last. It’s been ages since I even attempted them! I broke out really old CTMH embellishments, and brads that I’m sure I’ve had since I started scrapbooking. (Some were gifted to me from my sister and a very dear friend, too).
Using brads and the tools you need to create with them will be featured in another Facebook live in the near future, too. Join me in my techniques group to learn more, especially if you’ve never used them before! (I’m not even sure they’re available in scrapbook stores, anymore either).
Speaking of my techniques group, there’s a challenge happening over there that you should participate in. All you need to do is create a layout using spray ink, share it in the group (it’s an announcement at the top of the wall), and you’ll be entered to win a CTMH prize! How fun! If you’d like to participate, head over there now. The challenge ends on Saturday- two days away! (Scroll up a bit to find the link).
I have a couple more layouts to share with you today- both were created using CTMH Heart Happy.
First, a little crafting tip. To stretch your papers, making them last forever, trim them into strips of varying widths and lengths to create a visually rich design that’s full of texture! See this design principle in action below:
In the layout above, I paired stamping from D1815 Bunches of Love to create the splatter effect along the bottom and top right of the layout in Sapphire, Raspberry and Mint ink. I also added cricut die cut hearts in coordinating colors for a tone on tone look.
Don’t forget, the Heart Happy paper packet is available this month only, meaning it expires January 31! If you love this collection as much as I do, may I suggest ordering it before it’s too late?! You can order it online from my CTMH website. Follow this link to get there!
My order has finally arrived! It came yesterday, and I’ve already played with my new goodies. I’m on the ball this time. It feels so good!
I could not wait to play with Heart Happy, which was the most important item in my order. December and January’s stamp of the months, too. That’ll be coming soon.
Today, I want to introduce you to Heart Happy. There are a variety of options to purchase this workshop. You choose what jives with you the most! Visit my website to see all the ways this kit is available!
I chose the workshop kit. For $54, you get a lot of goodness for the price it is. Shimmer trim, silver glitter dots, card stock, patterned paper, 10 card bases and envelopes, stickers and the stamp set is all included with this option. It’s regularly over $70! Yep, so you’re getting it at 25% off. Lucky you! The creativity and inspiration- it has no limit.
Here’s the first layout I made using it:
What a fantastic way to show off all the colors, patterns and texture in the kit! I’m all 😍 over this layout. My original inspiration came from Pinterest (go Pinterest!!)
All I did to create this layout, is trim zip strips and strips from all the patterned paper to 0.5×5 inches, and adhered them in an irregular pattern along the top of the layout base. So simple!
Next, using the coordinating stamp set, I used some of the words in the set, to create word boxes around my photo. It’s not easy to see in the photo, but I stamped the words in the same color ink as the card stock, for a tone on tone look. To embellish, I added Bashful pearls, mint enamel dots and black enamel dots.
Lastly, I created the title using the coordinating stamp set, and created the border along the bottom of the layout base with mint and Ballerina ink.
I hope you enjoyed today’s layout! Stay tuned for more, coming soon!
As you know, I have a Scrap Your Stash event coming up that you are more than welcome to join and participate in. Coincidentally, it also coincides with another event I have happening over in my Try it Out group on Facebook (which, now that I think about it, I might have missed doing a FB Live this morning. Oops! There’s always some bumps getting back into routine after a holiday, right??)
Were you unaware that I’m hosting a Scrap Your Stash event later this month? Its scheduled to take place between January 21-28. Its a week long because a lot of my customers are having a hard time working around their sports and work schedules and I want this to be as inclusive (and successful) as possible! The goal of this event is to get you working with the items you already have on hand, and using up your ever expanding pile of scrap papers (and embellishments, ribbons, journaling cards, etc.) Play along with us! There is still room, because this event is happening online! You choose the day and time that works for you, and get some crafting done. When you’re done, take a picture of your completed project, and upload it to my business page for your chance to win some Close to My Heart swag from yours truly. I want to share, and I think this is a wonderful way to do it! To join, follow this link: https://www.facebook.com/events/2266068393718707/
What’s the Try It Out event that I mentioned? I’m focusing on using spray inks in my artwork (I’m still waiting on new product to arrive, so to kill time I’m using up my stash, and playing with things that I don’t often play with) and I’m challenging my groupies to play with it, too. Or, try it out, if they’ve never tried it before. The Facebook Live that I was (still am) going to do was to walk participants through how to put together the layout I shared with you the other day (find the blog post here). Then, try it out yourself! I’m posting additional artwork to the group event to further inspire the participants. The layout I’m going to share with you today is one of them!
In this layout, I used HS spray ink in Tea, which covers the criteria for the Try it Out event that I have planned (I’ll share the fine details soon), and it covers the criteria for my Scrap Your Stash event! Its pulling double duty, which is awesome. Its saving me more work- keep it simple, silly. Thats the best policy ever! (All the paper that’s used, except for the White Daisy card stock, is all scraps. The dark blue base is actually retired CTMH paper that I have a ton of!)
Oh, phew! I didn’t miss the Facebook Live that’s I’ve got planned! (Great memory, just short). That will be happening next Saturday, if you’d like to check it out. (That’s the 12th). If you’d like to participate in it, find the event here. Are you a member of my Try it Out group? Head to Facebook, and join here. I’d love to see you at both events, that would be so great!
I’m dropping in today to share with you a layout I created the other day. I used HS spray Ink in Tea and some CTMH scrap retired patterned paper.
I took out some new CTMH product, as well! The card stock base is CTMH Bluebird and coordinated well with my photo. I included some stamping using the You Are Here stamp sets (which coordinate with the Cricut cartridge) and cut the title using my Cricut. (Which also happens to be from You Are Here).
Have you heard? Over on Facebook, I’ll be showing you how I created this simple layout- and I’ll have a couple others that are similar, to hopefully inspire you to try using spray inks!
I’ll be doing a Facebook live, walking you through the process of creating this layout, then you’ll have the opportunity to create it yourself. The other layouts are meant to inspire you, and you can use them to jumpstart your creating too.
Anyone is welcome to join the group this will be happening in. Find it here. The fun starts January 27! Hope to see you there!
Well no road trip here today. My poor girl woke up with the flu. It’s pretty smelly and nasty over here today.
On the bright side, I have a layout to share with you that I made yesterday. It’s another Dino Layout, but instead of the inside of the museum, I took a couple pictures of the outside.
I pulled out some Sweet Leaf card stock- which I’ve never created with before. I’ve had a love affair with the coordinating ink for as long as I’ve been a CTMH rep (almost 5 years! It’ll be 5 years in April, I believe). It wasn’t until I placed my bulk order in December that I finally ordered the card stock. Whyyy did I wait so long? It’s bright and spring- like, and it makes me happy! I paired it with Almond and Espresso card stock and placed it all on a crisp, clean sheet of White Daisy. I wanted to use the You Are Here Stamp sets that coordinate with the CTMH cartridge, instead of going with more Dino themes. I think I’m over it and ready to move on to something else.
Welcome to a brand new year! Can you believe its 2019 already?! How has the new year treated you so far? I rang in the new year with a wicked cold. I’m still not sure I’m over it yet, but I feel way better than I did two days ago. The year can only go up from here!
There’s a lot to look forward to this year. There’s even a lot to look forward to this month! Starting with the new stamp of the month. I’m currently waiting on my SOTM to arrive. I should have it sometime next week, and shortly afterwards, I’ll have artwork to share using it! I’m also waiting on Heart Happy, an exclusive paper packet that came out this month. You’ll have to wait on artwork using that, too! In the mean time, I can show you the artwork Corp created using both these products. I will be away tomorrow, and unavailable again on Saturday, so I’m taking advantage of the time I currently have to share with you!
How cute is this card?! First, I’m loving the color combination- pink, grey and black looks so smart together! Secondly, the watercolored background is a lot of fun, and lastly, the squares and stitching look great, too. I love it all! I think I’ll be lifting this- or, at least, turning it into a layout. I can’t wait!
This card showcases a lot of stamping from the stamp set, and I think its absolutely adorable. Did you know the thread is new to CTMH? Its pretty popular, too! Lots of people love working with it. Find it at the back of the catalog, along with all the ribbons we currently have in stock. The squares and rectangle you see in both cards are from one of our Thin Cut sets. They’re a hot ticket item, and I think will sell fast!
I suppose you’re wondering what the actual stamp set looks like, and I suppose I should show it to you! That sounds like a great idea.
Look at all those beautiful fonts, all the wonderful sentiments, and all the ways you could use it to customize the perfect card for your friends and family! Everything you need in just one stamp set! The little heart and Just a Note are speaking to me. I can’t wait to get them onto a project! Sending you sunshine and rainbows, too. The number of ways to use this stamp set is endless. How would you use it?
This stamp set is $24.75 CAD if you buy it on its own, with nothing else in your shopping cart. When you add a few more items to your cart, when you shop online, it drops to $6 when your order total reaches $50. The same discount applies when you order through me, as well. Isn’t that an amazing deal?! That’s like a 75% discount! Its our way of saying thank you for supporting us, and we hope to see you again!
There’s only a limited time to purchase this stamp set, before another one takes its place. From now until January 31, you can take this stamp set home for just $6 (unless you just want the stamp set. That’s ok, too!) If you try to order it after that, a new one will be in its place! You’ll be too late! I can guarantee you won’t want to miss out on this stamp set. There’s so much you could create with it, for a wide variety of reasons! Why wouldn’t you want such versatile stamp set in your stash?!
Also available this month is Heart Happy. This exclusive paper collection has me all googly eyed because of the colors and patterns in it. Its perfect for your galentines, valentines and more! I’m really digging the artwork, too.
The card with the pie chart in it???? I’m all 😍 over it and the tags in this kit. Yes, tags are included in this kit! They’re all super duper cute! So, in addition to layouts, and cards, you’ll also get to create a bunch of adorbs tags, too! That’s thinking outside the box- I’m not aware of any other kit CTMH has produced thats ever included something like this. You know how else they take it a step further? You’ve got two options for purchasing Heart Happy. Choose either the kit above, or the kit below!
Heart Happy is available in Everyday Life mini album form! How great is that! Just like the Days of December album was specifically designed to memorialize your Christmas season, the Heart Happy one follows closely in its footsteps! Now you just need to decide whether you want the coordinating stamp set to come with your kit, or separately! (I personally suggest ordering it with it. Its a better deal).
What’s the price point for something like this? Well, lets take a look at it.
There’s your options, with the stamp set and without, including a closer look at what the actual stamp set looks like. Just keep in mind that this exclusive offer is only available until the end of January (the 31st). I ordered the workshop kit, but all the options are fantastic!
Good day, friends! If you haven’t seen the Magnolia Frame kit from CTMH, are you in for a treat! This kit is incredibly stunning!
It’s way bigger than I expected! Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect. The shiplap sheet that fits inside the frame is 12×12 inches. The frame itself measures probably 16×16. I didn’t measure it, but it is quite large, which made my heart really happy. The frame itself is sturdy- it’s made from chipboard- but, it’s still light enough to hang on your wall with finishing nails. No need to anchor this puppy. The frame comes in two pieces. First is the chipboard portion of the frame, and secondly is the paper overlay of the frame. It’s double sided! Choose from a warm varnished wood look, or vintage whitewash look. (View the image above). You choose which side you like better!
There’s also a backing, which is chipboard, and it gives what you put inside a sturdy support. It’s also chipboard. It has two perforated holes on the back side to hang on your finishing nails. They pop out easily when you’re ready to hang your magnificent wall art.
Included in the kit is easy to follow instructions, along with tons of visual inspo! Wow, there are a variety of impressive ways to decorate your frame- there’s no limit to what you could do!
I used that inspo as a starting point, then gave the frame my own unique twist.
Before I go on, I should point out that the flowers, leaves and rose gold floral sprigs are all included in the kit. I’ve even got some left over! “Home” and “Love” are included, as well. You choose what your frame says! (You’ll be instructed to curl the flowers for dimension, and the leaves, for the same reason).
I chose to go with “Home”, and before I adhered it to the included shiplap base, I turned to my cricut, and cut the letter K (it’s about 8.5×8.5 inches). It’s hard to see, but I cut it from White Daisy card stock. Next, using American Typewriter font in bold, I cut est. 2009 for the year we got married. That’s cut from Black card stock. Using 3D pop dots, home got some dimension when I glued it to the backing. Everything else was attached with regular adhesive. (Note that the chipboard pieces are adhered together with Liquid Glass. I also attached the “wooden frame” with liquid Glass.
Are you in love with it yet?!
There’s a couple ways to snag your own kit. First, the traditional way- purchasing it! $39 gets you the whole kit. I should mention that this kit would make an incredible gift. Know someone getting married? Just moved into a new home? Had your first child or grand child? These are all fantastic reasons to get it! If more than one of these ideas applies to you, why not order a couple? If you do, the price drops from $39 each to $32.50 each.
Want three or more kits? Well, it’s a good thing you asked. The price drops even further when you want a bundle of Magnolia Frames. Yep, it drops to $26.50 each. What a great deal!
Still a little rich for your liking? No problem. There’s two ways you could earn the kit (just one, mind you) absolutely free. Consider hosting a Home Gathering with me. When your party total order $150 or more in sales, boom! You’ve just earned the frame free! Another option is joining my team. To make your start up kit completely your own, CTMH will throw the kit in, absolutely free; they’ll also give you $60 CTMH cash as a thank you for signing up, to use any way you wish. What a great way to customize your kit- and what a stunning start up kit it’ll be! The Magnolia Kit is the silver lining! You’re essentially getting roughly $80 in free product! Whoop!
Which way would you run with this? There’s so many great options to choose from! Here’s the fine details: this kit is available January 1-31, 2019 only. Beyond that, and you’ll be out of luck. Purchase as many kits as you like for $39 each- two or more drops to $32.50 each, three or more drops to $26.50 each. You could also earn it for free if you host a Home Gathering only in January, or join my team only in the month of January. Noticing a theme? January is key. In February, there’ll be all new promotions!
So, that’s a lot to absorb already, isn’t it? Between the Magnolia Kit and Something Fierce, could there be any more to tickle your fancy? Believe it or not, there is! I’ll be back again soon with January’s stamp of the month and another special promotion that solely belongs to January. Stay tuned!
Are you ready for a new month and a new year?! It’s coming at us so quickly, isn’t it? Wowza, where has the year gone?
I’ve began reflecting on the new year, and making a business plan. I’ve missed blogging as much as I used to. It fell behind because I was focused on my CTMH workshops and adding more of them to my calendar. Things on that front has slowed way down- not sure why- but rather than beating a dead horse, I chose to continue moving forward by doing other things until the tides turn again. Such as blogging. Hopefully I can strike a happy balance when it does turn again.
So, having said that, I’m once again renewing my efforts to inspire you, share CTMH with you, and maybe forge a friendship with you. That would be ideal! If you’d like to join me, please follow along! You’re about to see me much more than you used to 😊
In January, a new catalog is coming out, and with said catalog, new products. Yay!!! All kinds of new is happening in January! I’ve had the privilege of playing with some of the new product ahead of time, and I’m excited to share it all with you, even if you already have seen some of it (check out previous posts to see more Something Fierce artwork).
First up is Something Fierce. It’s the featured paper collection in January. Did you know that every month at CTMH a new paper collection is highlighted? It makes workshop planning easy, and purchasing (if you adore what you made at your workshop). It also gives us a way to focus on one thing at a time so we don’t get overwhelmed by all the pretty new items at once! (Especially now, since each new catalog will have all new product- very little, if anything at all, will carry over).
You’ve already seen some of my artwork in previous posts, but I’ve got two more layouts to share with you. One layout used up some of the scraps I had leftover from the paper packet I was given at the launch event I went to on December 2. Paper can sure go a long ways if you use it the right way!
Cut your paper into 2×3 and 3×4 squares, and you’re set! Until now, I hadn’t used any of the images from the cut away paper that’s included in the paper packet. They worked well to embellish this double page spread. It’s so cute! I’ll probably never know the gender of this particular dinosaur, but since the papers are mostly pink and yellow, I’d like to think it’s a female lol!
The other layout I created used up a couple sheets of retired patterned paper and White daisy card stock. I also utilized journaling cards, which rarely happens!
My shadow obstructs the paper tearing that’s also featured in this layout. If you enlarge the image, and look really closely, you’ll see a tone on tone effect where I added strips of paper torn white daisy card stock. I think it adds to the wild nature of my theme. I focused on keeping the color palette neutral, so you’ll find lots of Nutmeg, Fern and touches of Glacier throughout- not to mention white daisy. Can never have too much of that 😊
I also utilized my cricut to cut the dinosaur and title. Happily, I have some images that fits this theme, which always makes crafting easier. Unlike the first spread, I added stamping to the far right journaling card for added dimension.
Next up, which I’ll share in the next day or so (we’re joining Whitecourt’s protest convoy tomorrow. We fully support our oil and gas industry! It’s our way of life 💕), is the gorgeous Magnolia frame kit, which is January’s national paper crafting Month sales promotion. I put mine together last week, and it’s stunning! I want more! You’re going to fall in love with it too. Promise!
Thanks for joining me. I hope to see you again soon!
While most people are thinking of Christmas- both in their everyday and crafting lives, my attention has turned back to sunnier and much warmer days.
I love Christmas, and the warm fuzzies I get from spending time with my family, but I want to wear my flip flops again. I’ve had enough darkness and short days. Long live hot weather and longer daytimes!
But really. Christmas needs to happen before flip flop weather is allowed to return. (Anyone else feel like winter set in back in August??)
I sat down to Create today because the week ahead is full of extra curriculars that aren’t going to allow for much creating (or any). While I’m waiting ever so patiently (bahaha- patience is not my strong suit) for my next CTMH order to arrive, I’ve been enjoying doing my own scrapbooking. I’m at the point in our lives where we took summer vacation one year ago.
I never ever thought I’d catch up.
By catching up, I mean scrapbooking events that are so recent. I’m a bit dumbfounded. Last year, this moment seemed so far away. I was completely fine with that. The whole point of scrapbooking is to never “catch up”. Maybe I should back- track now, and start over from when our journey began (as in the dating days). Hmm. That always was my plan, if I ever came to this place known as catching up.
Anyways. I ordered the You Are Here cricut cartridge during one of our recent flash sales. You can’t go wrong with 50% off, amirite?! I decided to purchase the cart I thought I’d get the most use out of, and this one was it.
You have a choice of purchasing the standard Cricut cartridge for $115 CAD, or the new digital collection for $85 CAD. Either cartridge comes with the Stamp sets you see above.
They’ve come in so handy! This definitely was a good choice for me! I’ve made a couple layouts recently that use images off the cartridge, but I hadn’t made anything utilizing both the stamps and cartridge. Until today.
I’m not done yet, either. I still have the rest of our day trip to Drumheller to scrapbook! Many more layouts using these tools are still coming! But, not until Friday, at least. Stay tuned for those!
And, stay tuned for fresh new product! That’ll be coming very soon too!
