8×8 Daughter Scrapbook

The post I shared about special requests (AKA custom orders) yesterday, was to prepare you- on short notice- for the first custom project I agreed to do just recently. I mentioned in yesterday’s post that special requests trickled in here and there since closing up shop, and after discussing it with my husband, decided it might be a good idea- for various reasons. So, here I am, about to share with you the first page in a custom requested 8×8 scrapbook album that a repeat customer asked me to create. I made her first album- her very own wedding album- last year. She’s also asked on a few occasions, if I would do more, and I was always open to it. The stars finally aligned when her daughter got engaged. The wedding must be soon- I think she intends to give it to her as a wedding gift. {Insert “awww!” right about here}.

This page is intended to be a title page, of sorts. I used a scrap piece of white card stock to cover the recipients’ name (for privacy reasons), but this page is essentially introducing who the main subject is for the entire album. These are also pictures from when parents and baby initially (or nearly) met.
My creative journey began with researching 8×8 size layouts, because I find shrinking down a 12×12 too confusing! I have a much too hard time trying to decide what to cut out- I want to include it all! This sketch inspired my layout:

You can find this sketch and all my other favorite sketch lifts here. Rather than using patterned paper, like shown on the bottom half of the sketch, I threw in a second 4×6 inch photo. Since there’s a limited amount of space and a plethora of pictures that my customer gave me, doubling up was the way to go!
Nearly everything on this page is Close to My Heart. The only exceptions are the stamped journaling spot and the SU Love stamp in the top left. I also wrote the date using a Recollections journaling pen.
